Sacred Space

Sacred Space

By

As we enter the sacred space, we step outside of the earthly realm and enter into the “heavenly” realm. We leave earthly life behind in order to enter into eternal life. As the priest and other liturgical ministers process from the entrance of the church to the sanctuary, we see this liturgical movement as our journey to Heaven. The “end point” of this liturgical procession is the sanctuary, which symbolizes Heaven, our eternal destination.

We need to set aside, for a time, our personal devotional life to sit upon that mountaintop of the liturgy. Let us ask ourselves how best have we participated in this sacred liturgy. How many blessings can we recount in our daily participation?  How much effort have we put to see that those who come in contact with us experience the power of this sacrifice?
